Let’s Talk: Favorites!

We all have favorite books. A series or a single book that has become a part of who we are as readers. I want to talk about a few of mine!

A Court of Thorns and Roses Trilogy by Sarah J Maas: This series. THIS SERIES has changed my life. The characters, the romance, the action, the EVERYTHING. I can’t even begin to explain how much these books mean to me. As a reader, it’s hard to answer the question of “what’s your favorite book?” but since I read these I can confidently, 100%, say that A Court of Wings and Ruin is my favorite book. I bought the ACOMAF sampler from the Melting Library when it came back in stock and have honestly smelled the Rhysand candle at least once a day. I love these books so much I gave them their own personal shelf. I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m obsessed with these books. I’m heartbroken that Feyre and Rhysand’s story has come to an end, but am so thankful Maas is taking us back to Prythian next year. If you haven’t read these books yet, what the hell are you waiting for?

Across the Universe Trilogy by Beth Revis: I don’t know what it is, but I LOVE a good space romance/adventure/mystery book. There’s just something about the darkness and endlessness of space that adds the perfect backdrop for an adventure and budding romance. It’s been a long time since I read these books but they’ve stuck with me. The plot was so incredible and original, the mystery ran so deep throughout the books, the stakes were so high, and everything about it just made me want to keep reading and keep reading. Honestly, these books were incredible and I couldn’t recommend them enough.

The Illuminae Files by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman: These books are so crazy intense and you never know what’s going to happen next or who (or what) is lurking around the corner. They’ve probably given me at least three heart attacks per book but it’s so worth it. You get so attached to the characters in such a sort amount of time and the plot and action are so quick that you keep turning the pages and suddenly it’s over. These are big books, about 700 pages roughly, but the way they’re designed make it so that you could read the whole thing in a night. Between the plot, the characters, and the amazing way these books are told it’s so easy to do just that.

The After Series by Anna Todd: Okay so I read these books back when they were just fanfics on Wattpad and fell in love. Partially because the plot is absolutely insane, the romance and character development are out of this world, and because I love One Direction. When these books got officially published I was so excited to read them since they were newly edited and expanded, and I was excited to have physical copies to display on my shelves. I know that Anna’s writing isn’t as professional as someone like Colleen Hoover or Sarah J Maas, in fact I couldn’t get through her other books because the writing was so bad and inconsistent, but to me the plot and characters make up for that and these books will always be some of my favorites. (PS I have two copies of Before because my husband proposed to me using it and had to cut a spot for my engagement ring in one!)

The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury: I’m a gigantic Aladdin fan and so when this book came out I bought it right away. I’m so sad this book is a standalone because it was fantastic. The writing was so vivid and detailed and coupled with the plot, characters, and romance it was everything I never knew I wanted from an Aladdin retelling. Simply put, this book was just beautiful, inside and out.

The Royal We by Heather Cocks & Jessica Morgan: I’m a sucker for a good royal romance. I feel like they’re grown up versions of Disney princess movies and I’m so down for that. This book is the epitome of a good royal romance. The writing was smooth and heartfelt, I think there were parts of this story that we could all relate to (besides the whole married a prince thing). The characters, their friendship and banter, was really the cherry on top of this great love story.

I honestly have so many other great books I can talk about but these were the ones that have stood out to me the most over the years. Also want to add that anything by Abbi Glines and Simone Elkeles can also be included in this list. They’re both some of my favorite authors, but they have too many amazing books to talk about! What are your favorite books? Let me know in the comments of this post or on my other platforms, I love fangirling over favorites!
