My Summer Must-Reads

Hello everyone and happy Summer!

This Summer, I’m making it a point to read some of my back-listed TBR on top of trying to keep up with ARCs and new releases. I don’t normally pre-plan my TBR for a given month or other period of time, but there are a few books that I feel like I have to read during my Summer down time and I wanted to share them with you!

Children

Children of Blood and Bone

This happens to be my current read at the moment, but it was one of the ones that I had planned to read this Summer for several reasons. One, the reviews surrounding this were all so positive and it only made me more eager to read it. Two, I’ve never read anything with such rich cultural context and background, and I was excited to get pulled into a world that was so different than my own. Three, there were some aspects of this book that reminded me of Avatar: the Last Airbender so I  needed this after coming down off my binge of the show!

A royal match

A Royal Match

Coming off my Royal Wedding high (but seriously, how gorgeous was the ceremony?!) means I need a royal romance fix. If you’ve been following me for a while then you know royal romance in one of my favorite sub-genres, so this has been in my sights for a while. Plus, I haven’t read a YA romance in a while and this one seems perfect!

The Kings

The Bourbon Kings

This beauty has been on my shelf for a while and after picking up the second book at Half Price Books because it was on sale, I’ve decided this is the time to read it. I’m going through some withdraws since the season finale of Dynasty (if you haven’t watched it then go do it right after you finish this post, its amazing) and I figured this sexy Southern drama would be a perfect cure for that.

LIFEL1K3

This gem just released last week and I’m so excited about it! My copy is coming in the mail this week because my local Barnes & Noble was out, but I can’t wait to get my hands on it! Ever since I finished The Illuminae Files this year I’ve been craving an action/romance/space/epic mash-up. This will be the first time I’m reading one of Jay’s solo books, but I also have Nevernight sitting on my shelf to devour sometime this year, and I’m excited for both.

Everlife

Everlife

This was part of my super large March book haul and since this is the final in the series I plan on reading it this Summer to wrap the series up. I have a terrible habit of reading all the books in the series except the final book, but not this time! Even though it’ll hurt to finish this series (doesn’t it always, though?) I need to do it before I just put it off forever, which I will definitely do.

Reaper

A Reaper at the Gates

This FINALLY comes out this year after what feels like a lifetime of waiting, and I’m so excited to see Laia and Elias and Helene again. I’m getting it as soon as it comes out and bumping it right to the next spot in my TBR. I literally cannot wait for this. Am I slightly disappointed that the covers of my books won’t match? Yes. Am I going to just move on with my life and love the book anyway? Hell yes.

Catwoman

Catwoman: Soulstealer

I’ve been waiting for this book since the moment I picked up Wonder Woman: Warbringer and saw it on the back cover. I’ve been dying to read this, and I cannot wait for it to come out later this Summer. Wonder Woman was a bit of a let-down for me, so I’m hoping this one is better than the first DC Icons book.

These aren’t all the books I’ll be reading this Summer, of course, but these are the few that I feel I’ll definitely read these next three months. I have big plans for this Summer’s reading agenda and I’m excited to devote more time to reading, writing, and blogging!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic Summer so far and getting lots of reading done! Tell me, what are you planning to read this Summer?
